Games For Change Festival Icons
A set of icons created for the Games for Change Festival in New York. These icons can be used as way-finding on the day of, or for promotional material to showcase the topics covered during the event.
Early sketches
Early brainstorming sketches exploring various ways to represent the six categories of the festival.
Form exploration
During our critique, I presented three different types of icons: Pixel art, isometric icons, and flat line icons. The latter recieved the highest feedback, and so I decided to go in that direction. If I had more time, I would go back and explore the other two forms.
Deep dive
Once I grounded myself in a unified form, the challenge was choosing what images to have represent each category. Over time, I found a common unifier: the video game heart icon. Over the weeks of the project, I tried creating a set that would feel like it belonged. The requirement for this project was to create six icons, but I ended up creating nine.

Looking back
This was my favorite visual design project of all time. I learned a lot of valuable lessons about keeping consistency through imagery, symbolism, and weight. I discovered a new passion for icon design, and Iām excited to improve upon this skill for the rest of my design career.
